I’ve always teetered the line between logic and creativity in my life. As a kid I found joy in math problems and brain teasers, but also in the bits of construction paper and craft foam I would use to make ideas in my head come to life. I loved going to science centers and math camps, but also to the local arts and crafts store where if I was lucky, I would be allowed to pick out one new art supply to play with. I majored in computer science and A.I. in undergrad, but also got a Masters degree in design. So, it’s no surprise to me that the way I express myself through my art is an equal partnership between the right and left sides of my brain.

In my work I explore the use of color, lines, and geometry to create movement, depth, and wonder. I use the transparency of watercolor to create beauty in the seemingly mundane-ness of everyday shapes. I still take a lot of my inspiration from math, but these days also from architecture, the natural world, and paper arts. I like to produce visually mesmerizing pieces that challenge and inspire people to appreciate watercolor in new and different ways.
